In 2022, Hendry Construction Ltd was awarded the contract for an exciting refurbishment project at Northwick Park Hospital. The project focused within the Pathology Department's C Block and W Block, specifically the offices and laboratories.
The refurbishment was planned to be carried out in phases over a span of 18 months.

Scope of Work
The project involved an extensive range of tasks to transform the designated floors. The key components of our work included:
- Demolition of existing structures
- Installation of stud partitioning
- Implementation of suspended ceilings
- Reconfiguration of laboratories by introducing new lab-grade benching
- Associated plumbing works, including the installation of lab sinks and hand wash basins
- Improvement of lighting and power systems
- Installation of Cat6 data ports
- Implementation of an air conditioning and ventilation system
- High-quality decoration and flooring throughout the refurbished areas
- Water plant room with Demin water supplies.
Challenges and Solutions
One of the primary challenges faced during this project was ensuring minimal disruption to the fully operational Pathology Department. To address this, the following strategies were employed:
- Phased Progression: The refurbishment was carefully planned and carried out in stages, allowing the Pathology Department’s staff to continue their work without disturbances, following strict program parameters.
- Respectful Approach: Special consideration was given to the lab and office staff, ensuring their duties could be carried out undisturbed.
- Effective Communication: Continuous communication with the hospital staff to understand their operational needs and ensure alignment with project activities.
Project Outcome
Despite all the challenges posed by the fully operational Pathology Department, the refurbishment project at Northwick Park Hospital was completed within the agreed phase program and budget. The transformed offices and laboratories now boast improved functionality, aesthetics and equipment, aligning with modern laboratory standards.
